History
Before the Patticake House was established in May of 2005, a child abuse victim was likely to encounter 2-7 interviews concerning the abuse. The interviews occurred in a variety of settings, ranging from the school counselor's office to a Children's Advocacy Center in Macon, GA. There were no appropriate medical resources for forensic examiniations. In some areas of the Tifton Judicial Circuit, there were no local resources available for victims and their families.
Through the efforts of community volunteers, the District Attorney's office in Tifton, GA and the Victim's Assistance Program, under the direction of Mary Meeler, the community responded to the identified need of child abuse victims by establishing The Patticake House Chidren's Advocacy Center.
